Indian Hollow HawksAs you have heard by now, Frederick County Public Schools are closing from March 16 through March 27, with the possibility of being closed longer. As Dr. Sovine said, this action is being taken to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to wash hands, minimize contacts, and follow health department recommendations so everyone can stay healthy.

Our entire staff worked hard this afternoon to provide academic activities and tasks for your students so they will be able to continue to learn. Please set aside time each day for students to read, write, and complete work that is sent home. We want everyone to be able to continue the great progress they are making this school year. Teachers will continue to be in touch via SeeSaw or Dojo over the break.

Chromebooks are being sent home in grades 3, 4 and 5. If you have internet connection, you will be able to access your Google classroom. For all grades, teachers are also providing web addresses to educational programs in use, including Istation. We realize not everyone can connect to the internet. Some of these programs can be accessed via phone as well. These are just additional resources students can use to help continue their learning.

Teachers will be working next week to provide additional learning experiences and instructions during this uncertain time. As of now, office staff will be in the building next week as well. Unusual times can require unusual measures. By working together with our health officials, hopefully this health crisis will be short lived. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. The most important thing to us is the health and safety of our school community.
